Metal Cleats: Not Allowed in Slowpitch Softball!
Molded cleats
Molded cleats are designed with a fixed outsole featuring rubber or plastic studs that are molded directly into the sole. These studs are usually shorter and spread out across the sole in a specific pattern. Here are the main characteristics and benefits of molded cleats. The rubber or plastic studs in molded cleats are built to last and are less prone to wear and tear compared to metal cleats. Molded cleats often come with cushioning and support features, offering better comfort during long games. They are also less likely to cause discomfort or blisters.
TPU cleats (hard plastic)
They provide more grip than rubber but less than metal and sit right in-between in terms of comfort and price. TPU cleats look very similar to molded cleats, though the spikes are made out of TPU material instead. TPU is a type of durable plastic that's super lightweight and provides plenty of friction.Â
